The Death of Blackberry

November 5, 2010

It should be no surprise at this point that RIM’s venerable Blackberry has seen the last of its hey-day. With major companies switching from BB’s to iPhones and Droids, the writing is on the wall.

I spent the better part of a year testing devices and carriers for my company as we decided whether to switch things up or stay the course. Our 35,000 employees rely on their handheld devices in (literally) life and death situations, so the decision was quite serious. In the end, I was comfortable telling the senior executive team that an Android phone could effectively replace our Blackberries.

Using good.com, an Android device is every bit as fast, reliable and secure as any BB solution. Add to that the thousands of other things a Droid can do and the death knell loudly sounds for Research In Motion.

If you are watching the market, you may rest soundly taking your money out of the RIM arena…
